Landscape painting is very forgiving: there is no wrong or right about it. Many of my favorite painters—Constable, Turner, Corot, Pissarro—were drawn to painting the natural world. Corot said, “Be guided by feelings alone. … If you really have been touched, you will convey to others the sincerity of your emotion.” Landscapes are about a feeling. What that feeling is, or where it comes from, will be different for each person, and each artist as well.
